It's been a while since I typed in this editor, looked at this community, felt a modicum of peace.
My name is Bog Swamp (Oli only for business purposes) and I have been writing for at least 15 years, posting for at least 10, including posting on AO3 for 6 (soon 7) years, and doing a getyourwordsout challenge third year in a row, managing to complete my pledge (75k in 2024, 150k in 2025) twice, and on track to complete this one too unless life throws me a log (or maybe a banana peel) under my feet, having written over 2.5k words in 30 hours since the New Year started.
I am a fan of spreadsheets and analysis, an unofficial father of an amazing kid who exceeds my expectation every day. I grapple with depressive episodes on my uneven journey in managing my schizoaffective disorder, anxiety, autism and adhd. I think my last post on dreamwidth has been from a mental hospital during Summer two years ago.
Fandom has been my safe space since I was fourteen. I read things I shouldn't at a speed others envied and taught myself a whole new communicative aspect of English language I hadn't had access to before reading shady, untagged fics on ff.net and Wattpad.
I am a social media hermit crab, with accounts everywhere, like discarded old shells which I don't use, because I see no reason to. I am however active on Discord, always ready to talk with new people if they bring something interesting to the table. My relationships thrive on purpose, rambling about favourite shows, bonding over fics written or read independently or together, giving each other advice, reading each other's works, or philosophising about life. I love my friends, especially my inner circle who consists of four amazing folks who have something deeply wrong with them /(affectionate). I met all my current friends through fandom or writing or both. Putting words on paper or in the word processor frees up my mind, makes me happy, truly, unconditionally and irreversibly happy.
Due to the above facts I am constantly seeking ways to engage with Fandom in a way that doesn't drain my limited energy reserves. This challenge must have made me think it's going to be chill enough, but as stated earlier I haven't visited dreamwidth in almost 2 years. Therefore the title: Impostor log. I feel like an impostor, not knowing what this community is about, coming in 2 days late and not able to find what is actually expected from participants.
Still, past me thought of the Snowflake Challenge as something worth taking part in, so here I am, introducing myself. Considering this is a fandom challenge I should probably mention my fandoms.
I've been obsessed with Kpop Demon Hunters recently.
I had loved How To Train Your Dragon (the movies and series) since the first movie came out (and oh god it's been how many years? Also THD isn't a thing, we all had a group hallucination).
I have appreciation for worldbuilding of Tales of Arcadia (and not much else).
I really love the fanon of Danny Phantom.
I am obsessed with EPIC the musical.
Star Trek is my baby and you can pry vulcans from my cold dead hands. (AND FUCK THE KELVIN TIMELINE MOVIE'S DIRECTORS, SCRIPTWRITERS, EVERYONE WHO HAD DECISION MAKING BASICALLY. WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY DIDN'T EVEN INCLUDE THE VULCAN'S SISTER PLANET SLASH MOON? THE MOVIE IS ABOUT DESTROYING THE PLANET AND THEY FORGOT THE THINGS RIGHT NEXT TO THE PLANET AND EXPLICITLY CONNECTED TO THE PLANET!!!!)
Boku no Hero Academia holds a very special place in my heart.
Hunter x Hunter holds a very special place in my core memories.
I was interested in dynamics of DSMP for a while, and I still think about them, but I don't think any more writing connected to them is happening.
UT/DR fandom, DELTARUNE more than UNDERTALE tho, makes me cackle each time I see the weird route. I have played through the Blue Canon Event so many times, without getting to the end of Chapter 2, why bother, I have achieved my goal by freezeburning a chicken.
I also finally watched Avatar: The Last Airbender last year and fell in love.
I don't quite know what else to write, it's 4 minutes after midnight as I type those words.
I am feeling lost, uncertain, but I know my silly blorbos are there to help me through it all.
Can't wait to see what this challenge brings, and hopefully I'll check on Dreamwidth more often.
Stay safe, stay sane.

Date: 03/01/2026 07:45 (UTC)From:And yeah, BnHA has been on my mind recently, with a big AU brewing for years that I'm not exploring in drafts. Dunno if it will be this year that I release it, maybe it will end up a 10 year anniversary tribute XD But yeah.

Date: 03/01/2026 19:13 (UTC)From:I'm super impressed by how you've been completing your pledges every year! And yay HxH and BnHA mention <3 It's mildly embarrassing in a funny way, but I got into both by accidentally stumbling into... nsfw fanworks of them. Now, they have altered my brain chemistry.
Good luck and I hope you have fun with the challenge! <3

Date: 03/01/2026 19:31 (UTC)From:And oh my god I watched HxH, thought "Wait, there isn't more?" so I googled it and then found smutty fanfics of it and didn't realise what I'm reading until I googled some unfamiliar words and realised it's all genitalia names xDDDDDDD
I have learnt English that way, that was over 8 years ago and I'm still laughing about that.
Good luck and have fun to you too! And nice pfp, Todoroki for the win.
Re: <3<3<3
Date: 03/01/2026 20:06 (UTC)From:That's so cool! I used to do spreadsheets for work but I haven't properly touched one in a while haha I did not pledge anything this year due to fear of commitment, but if I can sustain this hobby once I get a new job, I might consider for 2027.
Omg lmao the range our vocabulary has expanded due to fandom and fic... 😭 There are way too many ways to call people's bits, some more notorious than others. Literacy is both a blessing and a curse.
Thank you!! (re: pfp <3)

Date: 04/01/2026 18:05 (UTC)From:and aaaaay BNHA and KPDH 🤝 I'm not active in the fandoms because I have the same hermit tendencies and also am seeking ways to engage that don't drain me, but the former also has a special place in my heart. also the fanon of Danny Phantom is fascinating to me, from what little I've seen as an outsider. I watched Danny Phantom when I was younger so seeing it just has me ?? but in a pleasant way, if that makes sense?
but yeah, I hope you enjoy your time doing the challenge!

Date: 05/01/2026 04:42 (UTC)From:I hear ya...fandom has always been my safe space too (and yes, coming from a late diagnosed ADHDer with PTSD, it makes sense why). So many people I'm still friends with to this day are from different fandom communities, and it means so much that they're part of my support system.
KPDH ftw! XD Can never get enough of it!
